Overview
Functional Tutoring operates this learning platform to provide SAT and ACT diagnostics, practice, progress tracking, and tutor-supported learning. This policy explains the information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to users.
Information we collect
- Account information, including name, email address, account type, authentication records, and consent records.
- Learning information, including diagnostic responses, scores, practice activity, skill progress, study goals, reflections, assignments, and tutor feedback.
- Tutoring information, including schedules, session notes, learning profiles, uploaded materials, and communications entered into the platform.
- Technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as device, browser, network, authentication, error, and security-event information collected by us or our service providers.
- Support communications and problem reports submitted by users.
How we use information
- Provide, personalize, secure, and improve the learning platform.
- Generate diagnostics, recommendations, practice plans, progress reports, reminders, and tutor workflows.
- Authenticate users, enforce account permissions, prevent abuse, and investigate technical or security problems.
- Send transactional account, assignment, diagnostic, and progress communications according to available preferences.
- Respond to support requests and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Automated tools and service providers
We use infrastructure, authentication, email-delivery, hosting, and artificial-intelligence providers to operate parts of the platform. These providers process information on our behalf subject to their agreements and security controls. Automated outputs can contain errors and are used to support—not replace—student, tutor, or administrator judgment.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with authorized tutors, administrators, and linked participants as required to provide the service; with vendors acting on our behalf; when directed or authorized by the user; or when reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, or protection of rights.
Student and children’s privacy
Self-service account registration is intended for people who are at least 13 years old. A child under 13 must not create a self-service account. A parent or legal guardian should contact us before any use by a child under 13 so that appropriate consent and account arrangements can be evaluated. Schools, organizations, and families may have additional privacy obligations depending on how the platform is used.
Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain educational and security records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention can vary by record type and relationship. Users may request account access, correction, export, or deletion by contacting us. Some records may be retained when required for security, legal compliance, or legitimate operational purposes.
Security
We use access controls, authentication, encrypted connections, database policies, monitoring, and service-provider safeguards designed to protect information. No online system can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their passwords and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access.
Your choices
Users may update certain account and learning information in the platform, manage available reminder preferences, or contact us about access, correction, export, and deletion. Transactional messages necessary for account security or active services may continue while an account remains active.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the platform changes. Material revisions will receive a new effective date and, when appropriate, an in-product notice or renewed acknowledgement. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to tyler@functionaltutoring.com.
